I can imagine needing a cauldron and some time to boil the water, calf fat, and ingredients under the stars. You could "empower" the potions and achieve the boosted effects if you include rare or exotic ingredients (eye of newt? tongue of bat?).

I admit, though I think this system can be used to create an alchemy/potion list (one component + second component = unique effect), I didn't make the spell list explicitly with it in mind. Some effects, like the illusions, won't make a lot of sense in a "drink a potion" context. You know, Arnold K made a really good potion list. Just make a grid for those, and pop those effects in there. I'll interpret for as many spells as it makes sense that casting includes smoking the components and the smoke from spells curls and moves in peculiar ways by default, because that's a mental image that appeals to me. I also adore the poem composing rule for incantations and want to see it used.Gorinichhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17232977766320497127noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2433981734782687691.post-33304347170377931742018-11-12T08:23:40.132-08:002018-11-12T08:23:40.132-08:00Fantastic idea, and really solid-looking execution...Fantastic idea, and really solid-looking execution! I've idly contemplated something similar, inspired by playing hours upon hours of Ultima IV as a kid. Looking forward to trying this out with my group when I have a chance.
