Just a comment re: combat - it can be done quickly once the Warden gets the hang of it and if both sides roll their check dice and damage dice simultaneously. Remember to roll speed checks each round, and grant advantage for any crew using their environment well etc. All characters can make 2 actions per round - this includes combat actions. If your group gets in the habit of everyone narrating their character's actions quickly, it can be resolved fast. e.g.
Warden: Marine - you're up!
Marine: I'm gonna shoot the android with my pulse rifle twice.
Warden: Make two combat checks and also roll damage simultaneously, in case it's a hit. I'll make two armour checks for the android at the same time.
[Resolve dice]Alexhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05060062078505372207noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2433981734782687691.post-45513095653788307232021-03-27T09:07:24.957-07:002021-03-27T09:07:24.957-07:00Thanks for the session write up. I definitely think some of the tension and horror stuff needs a slower build than a one shot. I'm not to worried about the 'questioning their own humanity' aspect of it, but I do want to creep them out!galaxymasterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07708725003091164917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2433981734782687691.post-54495465213042009752021-03-15T06:37:40.619-07:002021-03-15T06:37:40.619-07:00I can try!

Some of the slowness was us making sure we were doing it right. I did not think about what weapons the security androids were using (it wasn't in their stat bloc -- I think), so sort of fubbed the numbers for them.

There were two marine characters. One was specced for close combat, so he spent most of the turns attempting to close the distance. The other marine took combat drugs and did the entirety of the damage.

During combat, one marine was hit critically. This caused a panic check. It was our only panic check of this session. That was a fun/tense part of combat.

Because several characters simply did not bring weapons and were being shot at, they hid inside the huge pseudoflesh nests of the Chosen. So that their players weren't bored to tears, each round I roleplayed with them for a minute or two.

It took about an hour for the party to kill 2 androids. The rest retreated. Did you end up running combat by the book or using what sounds like the more often-used version where an armor save just halves the dmg? Can you go into more detail about your combat?Jason A.https://www.blogger.com/profile/11707557833342502936noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2433981734782687691.post-50050859766147578432021-03-02T11:25:29.629-08:002021-03-02T11:25:29.629-08:00I replied once but it looks like Blogspot ate my c...I replied once but it looks like Blogspot ate my comment. Frustrating.

Each level seems to be very extractable and usable on its own merits. You'll just have to rekajigger the plot.

For example, Level 2 has two factions: the Chosen and the Forsaken. The Chosen worship an evil AI as a god. The Forsaken USED to be the Chosen, but were exiled to the sewers as an experiment by the AI.

You can pull out Level 2 and slap it anywhere you want in your dungeon, but you'll have to figure out who is running the experiment, where they are, and why they're doing what they're doing. Rinse repeat.Joshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11103061574208320331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2433981734782687691.post-82622989914749892532021-03-02T10:07:39.090-08:002021-03-02T10:07:39.090-08:00I'm already running a space-city mega dungeon....I'm already running a space-city mega dungeon. Do you think there are parts of this that are easily repurposed or is it too cross-integrated to harvest for pieces?Deadtreenoshelterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18109223559705593102noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2433981734782687691.post-17633062190970286002021-03-02T07:46:25.199-08:002021-03-02T07:46:25.199-08:00Cheers! I don't have the time allotment to continue playing this right now, but I honestly would like to run a full-fledged campaign of this at some point.Joshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11103061574208320331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2433981734782687691.post-81710753144531559382021-03-01T21:35:20.493-08:002021-03-01T21:35:20.493-08:00I have some home-made vtt maps if you want them. I leave space to put player icons on the map so they can get to their character sheets. So far one player has a bends score of 17 and after the nd session, everyone has over 8 stress and a couple have in the teens, next session should be good, they took Monarch's job offer to destroy the Minotaur MUAHA AHAHAHAmsilverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15308295974224077150noreply@blogger.com
